I'M SUCH A WUSS!!!
I have been looking forward to this month's We Should Cocoa challenge - each month I have willed Choclette or Chele to nominate chilli as the companion in our monthly chocolate challenge, and it's come - and what did I do? I chickened out - and just used Lindt Chilli Chocolate. I didn't risk chopping up some hot, hot, hot chilli and mixing it in there - I'm such a wuss!!!!
That said these mini chocolate pots, from Catherine Fulvio's wonderful book Catherine's Family Kitchen were delicious - I used chilli chocolate instead of the plain and omitted the Baileys Irish Cream (something told me that chilli and Baileys might not be the best combination possible!!!!) The chilli chocolate gave a very slight kick to the back of your mouth - subtle and simply yummy.
Mini Chocolate Pots
adapted from Catherine Fulvio's Family Kitchen
100g chilli chocolate
50g butter
1 egg
1 egg yolk
2 tbsp caster sugar
1 tbsp ground almonds
Preheat oven to 180 C
Butter 4 or 5 espresso cups
Melt the chocolate and butter in a bowl over simmering water
In another bowl whisk the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy
Fold the chocolate mixture into the egg mixture
Add in the almonds
Pour the mixture into the prepared cups (up to 3/4 level) and pop into the oven
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes - they still need to be gooey in the middle.
Serve - but be careful not to burn your tongue!!

I'm not sure I like the idea of chucking real chilli into a dish either! Good choice thought :)

I'm afraid of using real chilli in my chocolate baking too. Using chilli chocolate is great to acclimatise our taste bud first.
My family and I are good in tolerating spicy hot food but wasn't sure if we will like our chocolate cake too spicy!
Don't worry about it, I am a wuss too. My good friend Lisa from Lisa's Kitchen laughs at my pathetic attemps with a smidgen of chilli. These do look good and I think I could cope with them, hehe :)
I have never baked using chilli, but it sounds delicious! I wouldn't call you a wuss, I'd say you are a woman with discriminate taste!!!
I never used chili with chocolate but I think would be amazing Brownie, here we have some chocolates filled with a mix with chili. Look nice ! gloria

They look really tasty, gooey chocolate is the way forward! They sound like just the right amount of heat, I know someone who thinks pepperoni is too spicy so these may be perfect!

I have never fancied the chocolate and chilli combination - to be fair I have never tried it - and don't like too much spice in anything, so using chilli chocolate is a great way to give it a go. Thanks for the recipe !!

Sounds very sensible, at least you were able to enjoy your entry ;-) Actually these sound delicious. I haven't tried Lindt chilli choc, so don't know how strong it is, but a slight warmth probably works best in sweet stuff. Thanks for participating.

These sound delicious. I haven't seen the Lindt chili chocolate. I'll google it and see if we have that over hear in New England. OH, I put chocolate in my chili and it always comes out yummy!!

They look great - really soft and gooey! I have to admit that although I used chilli flakes in my cake, I couldn't really taste them and since my heat tolerance threshold is pretty much zero, my cake can't have been very chilli-ish! I like the idea of using Lindt chilli choc - good for a measured level of heat!
They sound yummy - I'm sure subtlety is better! well done x
looks delicious, I love Pot au chocolat. I am sure the dose of chilli was adequate. I do love that chilli chocolate Lindt make
